Big Emma apartments are built with modern finishes — which means a surprising number of "something broke" moments are actually a reset button, a battery swap, or a tripped GFCI. Try these first.

    Turn the disposal OFF at the wall switch.

  2. 2

    Find the small red reset button on the underside of the unit and press it firmly.

  3. 3

    If it still hums, look for the hex-key slot on the bottom. Insert the included 1/4" allen wrench and rotate back-and-forth a few times to free the impeller.

  4. 4

    Run cold water, flip the switch, and test briefly in short pulses.

When to escalate: If the motor still hums or you smell burning, stop and submit a request — a blown motor should not be run.
